Operator of massage parlor where women were locked at night guilty of trafficking
A jury in a state district court in Tarrant County this week found an operator of massage parlors guilty of continuous trafficking of persons, according to a district clerk record.
The jury in the 213th District Court on Wednesday assessed Fujun Zhu’s punishment at 25 years in prison. Zhu is 47.
In 2024, a woman reported to police that she agreed to work for Zhu at a massage parlor once it opened, according to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. At a Bedford apartment, Zhu took the woman’s passport and other identification.
Zhu told the woman that she would be required to perform sexual services for customers in order to get paid, according to the district attorney’s office.
The Bedford Police Department concluded that prostitution was underway at Zhu’s massage business and that women were locked inside the business at night, according to the district attorney’s office. In 2023 and 2024, the city of Bedford closed three of Zhu’s businesses.
