A domestic-violence assault suspect who threatened to engage in a shootout with law enforcement officers was arrested after a chase in Fort Worth on Tuesday, police said.

The Fort Worth Police Department’s emergency communications center received information from the Department of Public Safety in Texarkana about a man accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member. The armed man also had reportedly made threats toward officers, Fort Worth police said in a statement.

The suspect’s cellphone had pinged near the Texas DPS Driver License Mega Center at 8301 Brentwood Stair Road, and Fort Worth officers responded there about 1 p.m. to begin searching for him.

Officers did not find the man at the driver license center, but some time later they located the suspect’s car near U.S. Highway 287 and East Berry Street, which led to a short chase, police said.

The pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed, and the man was taken into custody, police said. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Jail records identify the suspect as 35-year-old Anthony Bradshaw, who faces charges including evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and collision involving damage to a vehicle.

A Fort Worth police spokesperson did not have further information about the assault case and referred questions to Texarkana.
