North Texas man who drove 34 miles with dead pedestrian he hit pleads guilty
When Terry Ivory’s body was removed from the passenger seat of a sedan in White Settlement, his legs, from below the knees, were missing.
In the hours ahead, Ivory’s shins and feet were found in west Dallas.
The driver, Nestor Lujan Flores, was drunk, police assessed, and he did not realize there was a body inside of the Kia Forte.
Ivory, who was 45, was walking along the Interstate 30 service road near Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas in December 2023 when he was struck by Lujan Flores’ car, police said. Ivory crashed through the windshield and landed upside down in the passenger seat.
Lujan Flores drove about 34 miles to White Settlement with the dead pedestrian inside of his car.
Blood was smeared on the hood, roof and rear of the sedan.
On Dec. 16, 2025, Lujan Flores pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter in Criminal District Court No. 4 in Dallas County. In an open plea, a judge sentenced Lujan Flores to 15 years in prison.
Lujan Flores, who is 33, lived in Arlington.
Tesha Shannon told a television station that Ivory, her brother, had been living under a bridge on I-30.
“He had such a good heart,” Shannon said. “Even with his situation, he would still find ways to help other people.”
White Settlement police responded to a fast food restaurant parking lot and found Lujan Flores asleep in the car.
Lujan Flores told an officer that he thought he had struck a deer, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Court records from Collin County indicate that Lujan Flores also pleaded guilty in 2021 to driving while intoxicated in Plano in 2020.
