2 shot, injured in robbery near Fort Worth elementary school, police say
At least two people, including a suspect, were shot and injured in an attempted robbery near a Fort Worth elementary school Thursday evening, police said.
Officers were dispatched to Hubbard Heights Elementary School, at 1333 W. Spurgeon St., about 7 p.m. Someone called 911 to say they were being robbed, and that a male had been shot, according to the police call sheet.
Police said their preliminary investigation determined there was an exchange of gunfire between two parties.
One wounded person was taken by private vehicle to a hospital, police said. He was shot twice in the legs and is expected to survive his injuries.
Officers found the second wounded person at another hospital.
A “person of interest” in the case is in custody, police said.
Detectives from the Robbery Unit and Crime Scene Unit were notified to investigate, police said.
