Police arrest 3 more suspects in fatal shooting of teen at Burleson lake
Three more suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager at a Burleson lake on Sunday, police said Friday in a news release.
Joel Fabian Garcia, of Fort Worth; Julio Adan Duarte, of Burleson; and Gustavo Gil Jr., of Alvarado, are being held in the Johnson County Jail. A fourth suspect, Wyatt Lynn Jacobs, of Burleson, was arrested hours after the shooting.
“Detectives worked around the clock, following leads within hours of the incident, and their determination led to quick identification and arrest of those believed to be involved,” Burleson police said in the release posted on the department’s Facebook page.
Officers were called to Bailey Lake shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday after someone reported a shooting in the parking lot. They found a 17-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a car, police said. The teen was unresponsive and died a short time later in the emergency room at Texas Health Huguley Hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The teenage victim has been identified as Keighan Robert Crist. His dead was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s website.
Another 17-year-old boy was shot and injured during the incident, police said. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The shooting apparently took place during a drug deal, police said. Burleson police found Jacobs a short time later in a vehicle outside his house. The 17-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into the Johnson County Jail. During an interview with detectives, he admitted being involved in the shooting, police said.
Jacobs, Garcia and Duarte face charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery. Jacobs’ bond was set at $1.2 million and the other two suspects at $1.25 million, according to jail records and police.
Gil was arrested Thursday and faces charges of engaging in organized criminal activity, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance, according to jail records. His bond hadn’t been set as of Friday morning.
