Two children were shot early Sunday when bullets were fired into a south Fort Worth home.

Police responded to the shooting about 2:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of West Bewick Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two children who had sustained gunshot wounds, police said. According to the 911 call log, a caller reported that one child was shot in the head.

Police said both children were taken to a local hospital for treatment. One child was critically injured and another suffered minor injuries, the Fort Worth Fire Department said.

A resident told Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV that the injured children are 11- and 10-year-old girls who were at the house for a sleepover and they were watching TV when the shots were fired.

Neighbors said the shots were fired from outside and left bullet holes in several other homes. Over 40 gunshots were heard on surveillance video from one resident’s home-security camera.

Gun Violence Unit detectives are investigating the shooting, police said. No arrests have been announced in the case.
