Man slain at West 7th club was Eastside Gorillas gang member, convicted of murder

Patrique Allen, the man who was shot to death early Sunday inside a Fort Worth nightclub, was a gang member with a history of violence who had a role in two homicides and was a possible suspect in a third killing, according to state district court records and a police source.

Allen, who was 31, was among six people who were shot inside Social LIVV, a bar on Bledsoe Street in Fort Worth’s West 7th entertainment district. The other victims, a man and four women, survived.

Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit detectives believe Allen’s killing was gang-related, according to a department spokesperson. Police believe that Allen was the intended target and the other victims were bystanders. The shooters ran from the scene. Police have not made an arrest.

Allen was indicted on capital murder in the robbery-motivated June 2019 east Fort Worth shooting death of Jamarcus Gibson.

The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office and Allen reached an agreement under which he pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to five years in prison. Prosecutors’ evidence in the case indicated Allen was an accomplice and not the shooter, his defense attorney wrote in a court document.

Allen was discharged from prison on Oct. 11, 2024, a Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesperson said.

Karron Edwards, a co-defendant in the case, pleaded guilty to an engaging in organized criminal activity offense, and, also under a plea agreement, was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Allen was a member of the Eastside Gorillas and Truman Street Bloods street gangs, the district attorney’s office has alleged.

Patrique Allen, 31, was killed and five people were wounded early Sunday in an apparently gang-related shooting inside Social LIVV, a bar on Bledsoe Street in Fort Worth’s West 7th entertainment district, police said.

When he was 17, Allen was charged with murder in the October 2010 killing of Justin Austin.

Austin, who was 20, was on the front porch of a house when he was shot three times in the head.

Allen pleaded guilty to a deadly conduct offense in that case and was sentenced to three years in prison.

Calvin Thomas, a co-defendant in the Austin case, pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Allen also was a possible suspect in a 2018 Fort Worth homicide, a police source said.

A grand jury declined to indict Allen in another case in which he was charged with aggravated assault in the October 2015 shootings of three people at the same time.
