A McKinney man is under arrest after firefighters found his wife dead Saturday in a closet from an apparent stabbing, according to a police press release.

McKinney firefighters were responding to a request for a wellness check for 42-year-old Eslam Mohamed after receiving a call from a concerned relative overseas, according to the release.

The relative, whose name was not given in the release, worried Mohamed was experiencing a medical emergency, the release said.

Firefighters arrived and forced their way into the home on 5700 block of Broken Spurr Drive around 6 p.m. on July 25, according to the release.

They found Mohamed on the living room couch with minor injuries and blood on his hands, the release said.

When asked if there was anyone else in the home, Mohamed said there was a woman in the closet. Firefighter found the woman dead with an apparent stab wound, according to the release.

She was later identified as 40-year-old Kubra Zafer, Mohamed’s wife, the release said.

Mohamed was treated for his injuries at Medical Center McKinney before being booked into Collin County Jail on a murder charge.

The investigation is still underway, and anyone with information was encouraged to call the McKinney police tip line at 972-547-3480 or email crimetipline@mckinneytexas.org.
