Cook Children’s hospital placed on lockdown after police chase ends nearby
Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon as a precaution after the suspect from a police chase abandoned their car near the hospital and ran, officials said.
“We immediately notified those on our campus, and internal response plans were initiated,” a spokesperson for Cook Children’s Health Care System said in an emailed statement. “Staff, patients, and visitors were advised to remain in their work or treatment areas and report any suspicious behavior to security.”
Police said the suspect left their vehicle near Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital and ran toward Cook Children’s. The suspect didn’t enter the hospital, according to police.
Once police confirmed that the suspect had not entered the hospital, the all-clear was given, the Cook Children’s spokesperson said.
The suspect has not been arrested as of Tuesday afternoon, police said. Further details were not immediately released about the reason for the police pursuit, the suspect’s identity or why the suspect was wanted.
