Kearon Taylor was 16.

He was playing dice with three others in the breezeway of a south Fort Worth apartment complex.

Also at the game on a Wednesday evening last month was 18-year-old Lamonte Roussell, who was handed a black gun, according to a witness.

Roussell pointed the handgun at Taylor, according to the witness, who was related to Taylor, known as Peanut.

Taylor was being robbed.

“Give me all your [expletive] [expletive],“ Roussell said before firing three rounds into Taylor’s body, the witness told police.

After he was shot, Taylor went into an apartment and died there. The complex, the Park at Sycamore, is in the 3800 block of Great Basin Lane.

“Kearon Deon Taylor was a vibrant 16-year-old with a beautiful smile and a respectful nature,” a family member wrote on a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral. Taylor was killed in a shooting May 21 in Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit Detective Jeffrey Jensen wrote of the relative eyewitness’ account in an affidavit supporting an arrest warrant for Roussell on capital murder in the May 21 killing.

Two other people who were present during the dice game or watched it gave police a physical description of the shooter.

Three witnesses looked at a collection of photos of men that police refer to as a six-pack. The spread contained Roussell’s image and photos of five people who look similar, according to the arrest warrant affidavit. One of the witnesses identified from the photos Roussell as the shooter; one said Roussell was present during the dice game; one made no selection.

Police on Tuesday booked Roussell on suspicion of capital murder on a warrant that a Fort Worth Municipal Court judge signed on May 29. Roussell is a Texans Can Academy charter school student.
