A man who in 2022 fired rounds from a revolver into the face of his mother’s cousin in northwest Fort Worth has reached an agreement with the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office on a plea bargain.

Breckron Wolfe, who is 28, on June 13 pleaded guilty to murder in the killing of 61-year-old Ronald Collins. Under the terms of the agreement, Judge Julie Lugo, who presides in the 372nd District Court, sentenced Wolfe to 40 years in prison.

Wolfe shot Collins to death on Oct. 10, 2022, in the 5300 block of Driftway Drive.

A next-door neighbor’s surveillance cameras recorded gunshots and Wolfe cutting through two yards, Detective Jerry Cedillo wrote in an affidavit supporting Wolfe’s arrest on suspicion of murder. Seconds later, Wolfe was recorded on the cameras walking back toward the shooting scene.

A police sergeant walked in the general direction in which Wolfe was seen walking and found a revolver in the back yard of a house two away from the crime scene.

Officers found Wolfe at the scene. During an interview with detectives, Wolfe denied involvement in Collins’ killing .

William Wolfe told Detective Cedillo that his son has been diagnosed with a mental illness. For a time after his arrest, Breckron Wolfe was found to be incompetent to stand trial.

He will be eligible for parole after serving half of the sentence term.

Had Wolfe had been found guilty of murder at trial, a jury or judge would have assessed punishment at between five and 99 years or life in prison.
