Police are investigating a shooting that killed a 20-year-old woman early Tuesday in east Fort Worth.

Officers responded to an apartment complex in the 6100 block of Sparrow Wood Lane about 1:40 a.m. after someone reported their neighbor had been shot. The injured woman was found inside her home and she died at the scene, police said.

Investigators learned the woman had been arguing with the suspect shortly before the shooting. Witnesses heard a gunshot and called 911. The suspect fled in a vehicle, according to police.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as Ireanna Denise Powe. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the case. Tyrece Fields was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail on Tuesday and faces a charge on an out-of-town warrant, according to police records.
