North Texas woman was stabbed by stranger who knocked on her door, cops say
A 49-year-old woman was stabbed by an unidentified man after she opened the door to him at her home in Mansfield on Saturday, June 14, police said.
Officers responded about 10:30 p.m. to a report of a stabbing at a home in the 400 block of S. Main Street, police said in a news release.
When officers arrived, they found a woman with two stab wounds to her torso, police said.
The woman was taken to Methodist Mansfield Hospital, where she received further treatment. The victim is currently in stable condition, police said on Sunday.
Police said officers searched the area and were unable to find the suspect in the stabbing.
The woman told police she was in her home when she heard a knock on her front door, followed by her door handle being twisted, according to the release.
She opened her front door and saw a man she didn’t know standing there. He inquired about a family acquaintance, the release stated.
The man was holding a kitchen knife in his hand and before she could react, the man stabbed her twice in the torso and ran away, the woman told police, according to the release.
The woman shut the door and immediately contacted emergency services, she told police.
No one else was injured during this incident, police said.
