A 52-year-old North Texas man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for beating his girlfriend.

Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Phil Sorrells announced the sentence on Thursday in a post on X.

Video from a Texas Department of Transportation camera caught the suspect, Michael Stinson, beating his girlfriend in July 2022, Sorrells said. Fort Worth police responded to intervene.

The victim told police that Stinson also strangled and sexually assaulted her, wrote insults on her legs with a permanent marker, and was threatening to throw her off of an overpass when police responded.

Stinson had a history of domestic violence, according to the district attorney’s office.

At his trial on Wednesday, a jury found him guilty of assault and sexual assault. During sentencing, the judge in the case told Stinson, “The violence against women stops today!”
