Two Oak Point residents were arrested in connection to over $1 million in stolen merchandise after an investigation by several law enforcement agencies in North Texas, authorities said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said its Criminal Investigations Division collaborated with local law enforcement and retailers to recover over $1 million in stolen property.

Investigators recovered the merchandise that had been stolen by an organized retail theft ring in Denton County and also seized $636,000 in cash, DPS said in a news release Friday.

Neeraj Singh Kanyal, 36, and Ankita Kanyal, 31, were arrested and booked into the Denton County Jail. Both face multiple felony charges including engaging in organized criminal activity and theft of property, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
