Staying protected against measles
According to Dallas County Health and Human Services, measles is a highly contagious viral disease that can be spread through sneezing or coughing. The symptoms typically include:
- high fever
- cough
- runny nose
- rash that first shows on the face and spreads
Young children, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems are susceptible to severe complications.
Doctor’s offices and DCHHS immunizations clinics offer the Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine, the department says. DCHHS Director Philip Huang said that two doses of the MMR vaccine give an individual full protection.
DCHHS clinics are listed on this website. People can also schedule appointments by calling 214-819-2004. For more information about the measles, visit the DCHHS website or call the same number.
