Fort Worth police have arrested a man in the fatal stabbing of his father after a fight near the Fort Worth Stockyards on April 23.

Diego Osciel Castilleja, 19, admitted to stabbing his father, 34-year-old Diego Alberto Castilleja-Limon, in the neck, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram.

Prior to the stabbing, Castilleja told police, he had seen his father assaulting his mother during an argument at the family’s home in the 2100 block of Prospect Avenue.

Castilleja-Limon believed his wife was having an affair and wanted to prove it by driving to the man’s home, the son told police.

Castilleja sat in the car behind his father, who was driving, according to the affidavit. When the car stopped at a train crossing near Samuels Avenue and Northeast 23rd Street, Castilleja removed a folding knife from his sweatshirt pocket and stabbed his father once in the right side of the neck, according to the affidavit.

Castilleja then got out of the vehicle and ran to flag down a police car that had just passed by.

When interviewed by homicide detectives, Castilleja’s mother said she felt him lean forward in his seat, according to the affidavit. When she looked, it appeared that Castilleja was hugging his father from behind and his father began flailing his arms. She then grabbed her son’s hand, took the knife from him and dropped it in the car, police said.

After being stabbed, Castilleja’s father left the area in the car and later abandoned it near NE Loop 820 and Blue Mound Road.

Castilleja-Limon was later taken by a family member to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he died early the next morning, police said.

Castilleja faces a murder charge. He was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Thursday, June 5, and released Friday on $100,000 bond, according to court records. It’s unclear whether he obtained a defense attorney to represent him in the case.
