Man killed in stabbing near Fort Worth Stockyards after a fight, police say
Police are investigating a stabbing near the Fort Worth Stockyards that killed a man on Wednesday night, April 23.
According to police, a man approached an off-duty officer in the 1100 block of Northeast 23rd Street and said he’d stabbed someone. The location is about three blocks east of the Stockyards.
Officers were called to the area about 9:40 p.m. but couldn’t find anyone who’d been injured, police said. A short time later they learned the stabbing victim had arrived at a hospital in a private car.
The man who died was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 34-year-old Diego Castilleja-Limon. He was pronounced dead in the John Peter Smith Hospital emergency room from stab wounds to the neck, according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.
Investigators said they learned that Castilleja-Limon had gotten into a fight with another person at a residence on Prospect Avenue. The suspect intervened and tried to separate them, according to police.
The suspect later stabbed Castilleja-Limon while they were in a vehicle together, police said. Castilleja-Limon ran away from the car and was taken to the hospital by another person.
Homicide detectives are actively investigating the stabbing, according to police. No arrests have been made.
