One of two men who were injured in apparently related east Fort Worth shootings on March 11 died in the hospital.

Fifty-nine-year-old Terry Dwayne Weilman died in the intensive care unit at John Peter Smith Hospital on Wednesday, March 12, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. His death has been ruled a homicide.

In the other shooting that police believe was related, officers responded to a business in the 6700 block of Bridge Street around 4 a.m. on March 11. The victim told them that someone came to the door and fired a gun at him, police said. The bullet grazed the victim’s head, and the shooter ran away.

About 5 a.m., Weilman was found shot in his car in the 1100 block of Bridgewood Drive, according to police. That location is around half a mile away from where the first assault occurred, and police believe the shootings are connected.

Both victims were taken to a hospital. MedStar said on March 11 that Weilman was in critical condition when he was transported by ambulance. The condition of the other victim was unknown.

Patrol officers arrested a suspect at a nearby apartment complex. He’s been identified as 32-year-old Arlynn Purvis, according to jail records.

Purvis is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $180,000 bond. He faces charges of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, court records state.
