Suspects opened fire on G$ Lil Ronnie and child with assault rifle, handguns: affidavit

The two suspects accused of killing North Texas rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter were armed with an “assault style rifle” and handguns, and they opened fire immediately when they approached the victims at a Forest Hill car wash last week, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The capital murder suspects, 24-year-old Adonis Robinson and 21-year-old Jakobie Russell, are being held in the Tarrant County Jail with bond set at $1.5 million each in the deaths of 35-year-old Ronnie Sibley and 5-year-old R’mani Sibley.

The gunmen arrived at the crime scene in a car they borrowed from Robinson’s girlfriend, according to the affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram.

Investigators with the Forest Hill Police Department and the Texas Rangers reviewed security camera video from Slappy’s Express Carwash, at 6500 Forest Hill Drive, which shows the shooters chase down and corner Ronnie Sibley as he tries to run away, the affidavit states. A portion of the surveillance video was published last week by TMZ and shared on social media.

According to the affidavit written by a Texas Ranger, the video shows the suspects arrive at the car wash in a white Kia Rio. The gunmen park on the south side of the business, get out of the car and walk to the north side, where Sibley was vacuuming the inside of his red Dodge Challenger. R’mani was seated in the passenger side of the Challenger, the affidavit states.

When the suspects rounded the comer of the building, they both immediately started shooting at Ronnie Sibley and his car, according to the affidavit. Sibley ran and was chased by the two gunmen, who continued to fire multiple shots and cornered him near a dumpster, the video shows.

After shooting Ronnie Sibley, the suspects ran back to the Kia and drove away, the affidavit states.

Forest Hill officers were on a routine patrol about 10:50 a.m. on Monday, March 3, when they heard gunshots, the affidavit states.

The officers found Ronnie Sibley lying in the parking lot on the north side of the car wash, and found his child shot in the front passenger seat of the Dodge Challenger, according to the affidavit. It’s unclear whether the shooters knew that the girl was in the car.

Officers saw “multiple bullet defects” on the car where the gunmen fired into the Challenger, and numerous shell casings on the ground, the affidavit states.

The officers provided emergency medical care to try to save the victims, but they were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Fort Worth police found the white Kia at an apartment complex and obtained surveillance video that showed the suspects arrive at the apartments at 11:08 a.m. wearing the same clothes that they wore during the shooting, according to the affidavit. The video showed the men appear to throw multiple items from the car into the grass, and then they walked into one of the apartments.

More than two hours later, a woman arrived at the complex and got into the Kia and drove away, according to the affidavit. Officers stopped the car and spoke to the woman, who is the owner of the Kia. She told police that Robinson had borrowed the car around 4 a.m. that day after he dropped her off at work, the affidavit states.

Robinson picked the woman up from work about 1 p.m., but at that time he was driving a red SUV, and he told her she needed to go to the apartment complex to get her car “because something had happened,” she told police. He would not tell her specifically what had happened, but he told her to delete cellphone communication between them, the affidavit states.

Police found Robinson’s ID inside the Kia, according to the affidavit.

The document does not disclose a motive for the shooting.

Robinson was arrested Thursday in Livingston, in southeast Texas, by Fort Worth police and the Texas Rangers. The next day, Russell turned himself in to U.S Marshals with the help of his attorney, according to a statement from Forest Hill police.

Russell’s defense attorney declined comment on Monday, March 10. Attorneys for Robinson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
