Driver detained after person is fatally shot near east Fort Worth apartments, police say
One person was fatally shot near an east Fort Worth apartment complex on Friday morning, March 7, police said.
More than 20 units were dispatched to the Sandy Oaks Apartments in the 1500 block of Sandy Lane starting around 10:45 a.m., according to the 911 call sheet.
Officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body, according to a statement released by Fort Worth police on Friday afternoon.
Homicide investigators determined that the victim and the shooter were involved in an argument when the suspect pulled out a gun, shot the victim multiple times and left in a car, police said.
A short time later, officers found a car matching the description of the suspect’s and took the driver into custody, according to the news release.
Investigators are working to determine whether or how the driver was involved in the shooting, police said.
The victim died at the hospital, according to police. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has identified him as 47-year-old Corey Urenll Sanders.
