Stray bullet leaves 1 dead, another wounded at Forest Hill home on Saturday, police say
A 36-year-old woman was killed and her sibling was injured in a shooting at a Forest Hill home on Saturday night, Feb. 22.
Officers responded to a 911 call about 7:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of Frisco Avenue, where they found two people in the back yard who had been hit by a stray bullet, Forest Hill police said in a news release.
Investigators determined that the bullet was fired from an area about one block north of the victims’ residence, police said.
After interviewing witnesses, police served a search warrant near the shooting scene. Investigators found several guns that were collected as possible evidence during the search, police said.
Authorities are now focused on identifying the person responsible for firing a gun from across the road, police said.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman who died as Maria Trujillo. The other victim was taken to a hospital. Police said the two victims were siblings.
Police said the homicide appears to be an isolated incident and not related to an earlier shooting on Mansfield Highway.
On Friday, Feb. 21 officers responded to a shooting at RK Auto Sales in the 5200 block of Mansfield Highway, where two people were shot and killed and one person was critically injured. A murder suspect — 35-year-old Rafael Arreguin, who is a former employee of the car dealership — is in custody in connection with that shooting, police said.
Anyone with information related to Saturday’s shooting is encouraged to contact the Forest Hill Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 817-531-5250 (Option 5) or by email at policeinvestigations@foresthilltx.org.
Other agencies including the Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation.
