Ex-employee arrested after killing 2 in shooting at Forest Hill car dealership, police say
A suspect is in custody after he shot and killed two people and wounded another at a car dealership in Forest Hill on Friday afternoon, the city’s police chief said.
Investigators identified the shooter as Rafael Arreguin, a former employee of the car dealership, Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez said in an updated statement Saturday.
Arreguin was arrested without incident in Fort Worth on Friday night and faces a murder charge, police said. He is being held in the Everman Forest Hill Regional Jail.
Detectives are working to determine whether additional charges will be filed against Arreguin, police said.
Forest Hill officers responded to the scene at RK Auto Sales — in the 5200 block of Mansfield Highway near the intersection with Southeast Loop 820 — about 3:30 p.m. Friday. First responders found the three victims and immediately began lifesaving measures, Hernandez said.
Crews with the Forest Hill Fire Department and MedStar took the victims to the hospital, where two of them later died of their injuries and the third was in critical condition.
The identities of the people who were killed will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after their next of kin have been notified.
Officers from multiple agencies, including the Texas Rangers, Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Worth Police Department, Everman Police Department and Kennedale Police Department responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation, Hernandez said.
