Fort Worth police ask for help to find hit-and-run driver who killed woman on I-30
Fort Worth police are asking for the public’s help to identify a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a woman on Interstate 30 the morning of Dec. 27, officials say.
Officers responded to the 1600 block of West Freeway around 8:20 a.m. after a passerby confirmed they had seen the body of a person on the side of the highway, police said.
The victim, 67-year-old Colleen Mayes, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators believe Mayes was struck by a red Toyota sedan, police said in a social media post. The car sustained damage in the crash. The mirror on the driver’s side and the front quarter panel of the car were left at the scene.
Anyone with information about hit-and-run death is asked to contact Detective J. Russell at 817-392-4867.
