The 18-year-old suspect accused of fatally shooting a Fort Worth man two days before Christmas used the victim’s own gun to kill him, according to court documents.

Isaac Garcia faces a murder charge. He is being held in the Tarrant County Jail.

Officers responded to a home in the 2300 block of Sanborn Street around 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 23. They found 37-year-old Henry Antonio Cordero lying on the ground with a gunshot wound, according to police. Cordero died at the scene from his injuries.

A witness told investigators that Garcia and Cordero were drinking alcohol, talking and listening to music in Cordero’s front yard. Garcia was on the front porch and Cordero was sitting in a chair on the lawn, according to Garcia’s arrest warrant affidavit.

The witness said Garcia went into the house for a short time. When he came back out, he got possession of Cordero’s gun. The suspect pointed the weapon at Cordero and fired, the affidavit states.

Another person who was inside at the time of the shooting said she’d seen Cordero take his firearm from his bedroom. A short time later she heard a gunshot, according to the affidavit.

The woman told investigators she thought Cordero was just shooting his gun outside, like he often did, the affidavit states. Then she heard a second shot and the glass on the front door broke.

It’s not clear how Garcia allegedly got the gun away from Cordero.

A neighbor’s surveillance video of the shooting shows a person walk down the porch steps and into the main yard. Another person is standing in the yard. A bright light is followed by what sounds like a gunshot, and one of the people falls over, according to the affidavit.

Two people are seen struggling, and then one of them runs away, the affidavit states. A responding officer saw Garcia running down the street near the location of the shooting and took him into custody.

Garcia is being held on a $300,000 bond, according to court records.
