18-year-old in custody after deadly shooting Monday in east Fort Worth

Police are investigating a shooting that killed a man in east Fort Worth on Monday, Dec. 23.

Officers responded to the 2300 block of Sanborn Street, just north of Lancaster Avenue and east of Beach Street, around 9:20 p.m. They found a man lying on the ground with a gun shot wound to the upper body.

The victim died at the scene, according to police. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified him as 37-year-old Henry Antonio Cordero.

The suspect fled on foot after the shooting, but police detained him near the scene. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment after a brief struggle with officers, police said. The 18-year-old was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail on Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Jail records identify the suspect as Isaac Garcia. He faces a murder charge. The Homicide Unit is investigating the fatal shooting.
