1 woman killed, 2 seriously injured by suspected drunken driver in North Texas crash
One woman was killed and two women were hospitalized for serious injuries after a suspected drunken driver struck their SUV in Parker County on Sunday, Dec. 8, authorities said.
Daniel Rascon, 21, of Weatherford, was driving a Ford F150 traveling southbound on FM 730, north of Clayton Road, and was passing in a no-passing zone while in a curve in the road, investigators said. His pickup truck collided head-on with a northbound Buick Envoy around 3:50 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a news release.
Three Azle residents were traveling in the Buick Envoy.
The driver, 69-year-old Wanda King, and one of the passengers, 45-year-old Christina Jones, sustained serious injuries and were transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, the release states.
Cora Estep, 71, another passenger, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where she later died.
Rascon was arrested and faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. He was booked into the Parker County Jail, according to the release.
Rascon was not injured during the accident.
