A Tarrant County jury sentenced a former tennis coach last week to 74 years in prison on numerous counts of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

George Dennis, 44, was sentenced Friday, Dec. 6, according to court records.

“Thanks to the FWPD for their work on this case and for continuing to keep our community safe,” District Attorney Phil Sorrells said in a social media post.

After he was found guilty on multiple charges, the court stacked Dennis’ sentences for a total of 74 years, the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said.

In July of 2023, a 17-year-old boy told Fort Worth police that Dennis, who was his tennis coach, repeatedly sexually assaulted him for years beginning when he was 15.

Dennis was a private tennis coach who worked in north Fort Worth, according to a previous report in the Star-Telegram.

At the time of his arrest, Dennis had been director of tennis at the Big G Tennis Group since December of 2013.

He also worked at the NRG Tennis Academy in Grapevine from 2011-2013 and the NRG Tennis Academy in Southlake from 2008-2011.
