A man and his adult son were found dead and another family member was found injured at a house in Newark during a welfare check by Wise County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of County Road 4874, after a caller indicated they had not been able to contact one of the residents for several days, Chief Deputy Craig Johnson said in a news release.

Upon arriving at the residence deputies knocked and announced their presence but there was no response. They entered and found two dead bodies inside, Johnson said.

The Sheriff’s Office later identified the deceased as William Struble Sr., 64, and his son Martin Struble, 29. Autopsy results are pending, but Johnson told the Wise County Messenger that it appears both men were stabbed during a domestic dispute.

Inside the home, deputies also found a 32-year-old man, who was transported to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been announced, but authorities said they do not believe there is a continuing threat to the small town 23 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case with assistance from the Texas Rangers.
