Arlington police arrested a suspect in connection to the October shooting of a man whose body was left in his home for days.

A murder suspect has been arrested after a fingerprint and cellphone records connected him to the killing of a man at an Arlington home, police said.

The victim with multiple gunshot wounds was found on Oct. 21, days after his death. Alexander Rivas, 28, died in his living room, police said.

After a thorough investigation, Arlington police said, they identified Marshall McLemore as the suspect.

McLemore became a person of interest after investigators recovered his fingerprint inside the victim’s home in the 300 block of Kingfisher Lane, police said in a news release on Monday, Nov. 18.

After Rivas’ body was discovered, multiple witnesses also came forward with information implicating McLemore, police said.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force and Corpus Christi police located McLemore in the Corpus Christi area on Nov. 14, and took him into custody without incident.

Arlington police said cellphone records showed that McLemore had been communicating with Rivas just before his death. McLemore was at Rivas’ home within the timeframe of the murder, they said.

McLemore, 20, was arrested on one count of murder. Based on evidence recovered from the crime scene, detectives believe high-risk drug activity was involved in the case.

Officers reported to Rivas’ home after a family friend found his body, during a check-in, after not seeing him for a couple of days.

McLemore is being held at the Nueces County Jail while he awaits extradition to Tarrant County, police said.
