A teacher in the Carroll school district accused of sexually abusing one of her former students was arrested Monday in Keller, police said in a Facebook post.

Police identified the woman as 45-year old Angela Barnes of Keller, a teacher at Carroll Middle School in Southlake.

Detectives received information in September about Barnes potentially having an improper relationship with an underage former student and began investigating immediately, according to the department’s post.

The investigation found that Barnes had been engaged in a sexual relationship with the former student between June and July of this year, according to police.

Police did not say where the student attended school.

Barnes has been charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between a student and educator, according to the department’s Facebook post.

Detectives do not have reason to believe there are additional victims at this time, officials said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Keller police Detective Brockmoller at wbrockmoller@cityofkeller.com.
