‘I hope what you did will haunt you’: Two men plead guilty to murders in Tarrant County
Two men have pleaded guilty to two separate murders in Tarrant County, one from 2019 and the other from 2021, according to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
Ryan Rogers, 23, pleaded guilty Monday to murdering Jacob Karr in 2019. Joshua Vaughn, 33, pleaded guilty to murder in the 2021 shooting death of Darron Clark.
Both of the defendants have been sentenced to 30 years, with Vaughn receiving an additional five years for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to the district attorney’s office, Rogers shot and killed Karr after Karr got into Rogers’ car to buy marijuana at a gas station in Forest Hill and an argument broke out. Rogers shot Karr in the back as he tried to get out of the vehicle.
“We don’t feel comfortable going out, we are scared and don’t trust people any more,” said Karr’s aunt Lisa Stuckey. During sentencing she told Rogers, “You made us all murder victims.”
A friend of Karr’s also spoke at Rogers’ sentencing. “There is a hole in my heart that cannot be filled,” Bailey Hale said. “I hope what you did will haunt you for the rest of your life.”
In 2021, Vaughn shot Clark multiple times while Clark was walking under a bridge in North Richland Hills, according to the district attorney’s office. Clark, who lived in Haltom City, was found dead at the scene when police arrived.
