Man critically wounded in drug deal gone bad in Fort Worth has died, authorities say

A Louisiana man critically wounded earlier this week during a robbery in northeast Fort Worth later died at a local hospital, according to officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office and Fort Worth police.

Fort Worth police had said the shooting stemmed from an apparent drug deal gone bad. The suspect also was wounded in the incident, but Fort Worth police did not release information on him.

The victim has been identified as Zarrieon Zemarsay Harris, 20, of Shreveport, La., according to the medical examiner’s website on Thursday. Harris died from from a gunshot wound to his neck and his death was ruled a homicide.

The Louisiana man died Tuesday afternoon at John Peter Smith Hospital.

The shooting was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 5800 block of Faircrest Cove in northeast Fort Worth.

A caller reported that someone had to tried to kill his cousin and there had been a shooting.

Fort Worth police did not release any other details.

A murder investigation continued on Thursday.
