Homicide detectives arrest suspect on suspicion of murder in Fort Worth motel killing
Police on Thursday arrested a suspect in a killing outside a Fort Worth motel five days earlier.
Brent Crenshaw, 35, was booked at the Fort Worth Jail on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of Lueseais Steward, 40, on Aug. 29.
Crenshaw shot Steward in the chest about 9:15 a.m. after the men punched each other at the Eco Motel at 3201 East Lancaster Avenue, police alleged. Their encounter was recorded from a motel surveillance camera.
A witness told police the assailant asked the victim for money or dope the assailant was owed, according to an affidavit supporting an arrest warrant in the case. Two other witnesses told police the assailant accused the victim of theft.
Crenshaw’s address in a police record is the motel’s address. Steward arrived at the motel on a motorcycle.
Steward, who police found lying in front of the motel, died shortly after he arrived at John Peter Smith Hospital.
The assailant left the scene after he shot the victim, police said.
