Collin County couple wrapped baby in blanket, submerged him in tar, authorities say

A Princeton couple wrapped their 3-week-old boy in a blanket and drowned him in a 5-gallon bucket of tar, authorities alleged.

Roland and Donna Grabowski put the baby, Micah, in a shed behind their house, Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner told WFAA-TV, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s media partner.

Detectives arrested Roland and Donna Grabowski late Saturday. The couple told friends that their infant died of sudden infant death syndrome, the television station reported.

The Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of Micah’s death.

The couple was booked on suspicion of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair human corpse, abusing a corpse without legal authority and abandoning or endangering a child.

The Grabowskis told lies as detectives questioned them, police said in the WFAA-TV report.

“There was an attempt to deceive us as to what had happened and the whereabouts of their child Micah,” Skinner said.

Princeton is about 10 miles southeast of McKinney.
