Police hunt for driver wanted for murder in killing of Arlington teenager hit by car

Police are searching for the driver of a sedan that on Monday struck a teenager in Arlington who died.

Knoah Harlan, 17, of Arlington, died after the car hit him as he ran to escape it, Arlington police said.

Police identified the suspect, and murder and aggravated assault warrants were issued, a police spokesman said Thursday. Police were working to arrest him.

Harlan was to next month be a senior at Sam Houston High School, an Arlington school district spokeswoman said.

Harlan was hit about 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 2100 block of Highbank Drive. police said. He died at a hospital.

A group of people in two cars had agreed to meet near Bowie High School to fight, police said. The first car had about five people in it. The second car, a sedan, arrived at the school and started to drive recklessly on the road in front.

The sedan started accelerating toward the car in which there were five people, police said. The people started to jump out of the car to run away, and the person driving the sedan swerved and hit Harlan, police said.
