Man, 20, killed in Grand Prairie shooting in which he was targeted, police say
A 20-year-old man was killed in Grand Prairie on Thursday night in a shooting that police say directly targeted him.
William Oliver, of Grand Prairie, was identified by police on Friday as the man who died.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 5800 block of Candlelight Lane around 9:20 p.m. Thursday, police said in a news release. They learned the victim had been shot in this area before he was taken to a hospital.
He later died in the hospital, police said.
The department didn’t release details of the shooting such as how it was carried out or what led to it. But “detectives do not believe that the victim was randomly targeted,” police said in the release.
Police haven’t identified a suspect or suspects.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest, police said. People can submit tips anonymously by calling 972-988-8477 or going to the website www.GPCrimeStoppers.org.
