Man found dead after shooting at apartment complex near UT Arlington, police say

A man has died after a shooting at an apartment complex near UT Arlington on Thursday night, police said.

At 9:26 p.m., Arlington police responded to a shooting at Liv+ Arlington, a student apartment complex in the 1000 block of South Center Street which is less than a mile from the UT Arlington campus, according to a press release.

Officers saw the man near a doorway with a gunshot wound in his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Aaron Alfredo Padilla, 19.

Detectives believe that there were multiple individuals at the apartment and the man may have been involved in narcotics activity, Arlington police spokesperson Jesse Minton said.

Investigators have not ruled out robbery as a motive, according to the release. Officers are working to obtain video surveillance and speaking with residents to see if there were any witnesses.

No arrests have been made and no suspects identified as of Friday morning.
