Woman in parked vehicle in south Fort Worth killed in drive-by shooting, police say
A woman sitting in a parked vehicle in south Fort Worth on Monday night was killed in an apparent drive-by shooting, police said.
Carmen Joann Enriquez, 33, of Fort Worth, died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. The death was classified as a homicide.
Units were dispatched around 10:55 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 200 block of West Mason Street, police said. The caller indicated her son’s friend’s mother had been shot, according to a police call log.
Responding officers found a woman inside of a car with an apparent gunshot wound to her upper body, police said. She was pronounced dead.
Detectives determined a dark-colored SUV had driven by the parked vehicle occupied by the victim and a witness, police said. That’s when one or more people reportedly fired several shots toward the car, striking the victim.
The shooter fled the scene, police said.
More than 20 units responded to the scene of the shooting throughout Monday night and early Tuesday morning, according to the call log.
Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting.
