Police ask for help to find 2 men charged with murder of teen on Fort Worth-area road

Crowley police have asked for help to find two suspects accused in the shooting death of a 17-year-old on May 29.

Authorities released photographs of Donell “D’Lo” Lewie, 30, and Quinton “Q” Hicks, 21, in hopes that someone would recognize them and tell police where they are.

The two are accused of shooting to death 17-year-old Caleb Chambers, of Strong, Arkansas, on May 29.

Both are considered armed and dangerous, Crowley police said.

As in previous years, Caleb Chambers was in Crowley to spend the summer with his father and other relatives, his father said Thursday in a telephone interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

“That night Caleb, my other son and I had arrived from Arlington,” Darrough Chambers said. “Caleb asked me for $20 to get some food, and I handed him a $10.”

That was about 11:30 p.m. on May 29.

Caleb Chambers, his brother and two others left the family’s Crowley home, stopped at a Taco Bell for food and drove to a 7-Eleven for drinks.

At the 7-Eleven, Caleb Chambers got out of the car and he was confronted by the two suspects, who were standing near the front door with the clerk, his father said. The suspects exchanged words with Caleb Chambers, but there wasn’t a physical fight.

The Arkansas teen went into the store and he was walking back to his brother’s car when one of the suspects went to their vehicle, pulled out a rifle and shot into the air at least four to five times, Darrough Chambers said.

“My other son got out of his car, ran up to the suspects and told them they didn’t want any problems,” Darrough Chambers said.

Caleb Chambers and his brother got back into their vehicle and drove away from the 7-Eleven.

But the suspects got into their vehicle, followed the Chambers’ car and opened fire, hitting Caleb Chambers, who was in the backseat of the vehicle, according to his father and police. At some point, someone in the Chambers’ car returned fire.

At 11:57 p.m. on May 29, Crowley officers responded to a call about the shooting, which took place near Farm-to-Market Roads 1187 and 731.

Darrough Chambers said his other son drove Caleb Chambers to their Crowley home and they then drove to a nearby hospital. The teen was later taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, where he was pronounced dead.

Lewie and Hicks face murder charges in the case, Crowley police said.
