Dalworth Inn killing: Man shot to death at south Fort Worth hotel, authorities say

A man was shot dead in a vehicle Friday night outside a south Fort Worth hotel, police said.

The victim was shot about 9:45 p.m. at the Dalworth Inn in the 800 block of East Felix Street.

He has been identified as Christopher Darail Smith Jr. of Fort Worth, according to officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. A ruling on his death is pending.

Fort Worth police homicide detectives arrested Tremaine Thompson, 27, on suspicion of murder in the killing.

On April 6, a 1-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy were shot inside a room at the hotel. Two other children between the ages of 10 and 15 were playing with a handgun when one of them fired accidentally, police have said.

A man shot two people at the Dalworth Inn on Nov. 27, police said. Both victims survived; one suffered a minor injury when he was shot in the hand as he left his room.

Friday night’s Dalworth Inn killing was the second homicide in the city in about 25 hours.

A 60-year-old woman shot her 57-year-old boyfriend in the head on Thursday night near a bus stop in the 3700 hundred block of Waldorf Street, police alleged.
