Suspect arrested, charged with murder in brutal killing of 20-year-old in Fort Worth
Fort Worth police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a fatal Oct. 29 shooting.
Deshon Young, of Fort Worth, was in booked into jail on Monday on a murder charge, according to police records.
Young is a suspect in the death of Jaylon Emanuel Hardemon, 20, of Fort Worth, according to authorities.
Police reported that they found Hardemon in the street dead from a gunshot wound to the head shortly before 11 p.m. Oct. 29. Hardemon was lying against a curb near the Valley at Cobb Park apartments when his body was located, a police report said.
Officers received a call about 10:45 p.m. saying that there were gunshots fired involving multiple assailants on East Robert Street near South Riverside Drive, according to police.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced Hardemon dead at the scene, in the 1700 block of East Robert Street, the report said.
After an investigation, police were able to track down a vehicle connected to the shooting and determine Young’s location, an investigator said. Young was taken into custody without incident in north Fort Worth by members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, the investigator said.
Young is the fourth suspect arrested in connection with Hardemon’s death. Three other suspects — Freddie Scott, 20, Antwan Griffin-Swanson, 21, and Altynesha Alexander, 21 — also were charged with murder in the case.
Alexander, who was charged with the murder in November, was arrested again in January and charged in U.S. District Court with theft of a firearm from a licensed dealer. She was accused of stealing a pistol from a firearms dealer 40 days after she was released on bond on the murder charge, authorities allege.
She was identified with facial recognition software, according to a criminal complaint written by a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives special agent. The Fort Worth Police Department’s Intelligence Exchange Section matched a surveillance camera image of the suspect’s face to Alexander, the special agent wrote.
Alexander remained in federal custody Tuesday being held without bond, according to records filed with the Tarrant County District Clerk’s Office.
