Denton deputies kill armed man sought in Fort Worth Sam’s Club parking lot shooting
Denton County Sheriff’s Office deputies intending to arrest a man suspected of shooting in Fort Worth a woman with whom he was in a domestic relationship killed him on Friday outside a gas station while he held a handgun, authorities said.
The deputies were working with a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force and Denton police to search for Marlon Bonds.
Deputies found Bonds about 10 a.m. in a parking lot at the Buc-cee’s Convenience Store at 5005 South I-35E in Denton, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies saw Bonds go to the trunk. They blocked his vehicle in order to keep him from driving.
“Bonds reentered the vehicle and produced a handgun at which time the deputies fired their weapons striking Bonds multiple times,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a statement.
Bonds fired upon and grazed a 43-year-old woman Thursday outside a Sam’s Club in Fort Worth, authorities said. The sheriff’s office said the woman was Bond’s girlfriend. Fort Worth police said the woman was his former wife. He was wanted on suspicion of aggravated assault.
The victim was fired on about 4:15 p.m. in a parking lot in the 8300 block of Anderson Boulevard, police said. The woman’s injury was not life-threatening, police said.
Bonds threatened to kill others, the sheriff’s office alleged.
Bonds, whose age was not released, was taken to Medical City Denton, where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured, the sheriff’s office said.
The Texas Department of Public Safety was investigating Bonds’ death.
