66-year-old woman found shot to death at apartment in Fort Worth-area city
A 66-year-old woman was shot to death early Friday and another woman was wounded during a reported break-in at a North Richland Hills apartment complex, North Richland Hills police said.
Two children who were in the apartment were not injured.
The victim has been identified as Peggy Barnes Franklin, who was pronounced dead in her North Richland Hills apartment, according to officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. A ruling on her death is pending an autopsy.
The woman who was wounded was taken to a local hospital. Her condition was unavailable.
North Richland Hills police said a suspect had not been located and detectives are on the scene.
Police responded to a call shortly before 2 a.m. that someone was breaking into an apartment in the 3300 block of Willowcrest Drive in North Richland Hills.
When they arrived, police found a woman with apparent gunshot wounds dead at the scene.
Police from Haltom City and Richland Hills responded to help secure the area and attempt to locate the shooter.
