Fort Worth-area man on run after meth-fueled shooting, tire-tool beating, sheriff says
On March 22, Anthony “Tony” Thomas Callahan and another man ingested methamphetamine at Callahan’s home in Parker County, authorities said.
At some point, Callahan became angry and he’s accused of shooting the other man in the right leg, then forcing the victim to stay in the home for several hours.
The 36-year-old victim later was forced into a Ford Ranger pickup truck by Callahan and two other unidentified suspects, according to the Parker County sheriff, and driven to a field near Springtown.
Callahan is then accused of beating the victim with a tire tool and leaving him in the field. The victim managed to get to a nearby residence, where deputies were alerted.
Callahan fled the scene, authorities said, and their search continued Thursday for the 32-year-old man, who the Parker County Sheriff’s Office described as armed and dangerous.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Callahan, who faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Detectives with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office have not released any information on what prompted the shooting and beating.
The shooting occurred on March 22 at Callahan’s home in the 100 block of Cindy Lane near Weatherford.
After the victim was shot, he was left blooded and wounded in a field in the 4600 block of Midway Road near Springtown.
The victim was taken to a Fort Worth hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, a broken jaw and other injuries.
Parker County authorities warned residents not to approach Callahan.
Anyone with information should call the Parker County Sheriff’s Office at 817-594-8845 or call Crime Stoppers at 817-599-5555.
