Two suspected burglars arrested near Fort Worth home, business, police say

A suspected burglar is accused of causing $23,000 damage to a furniture store, while another man is accused of trying to slip into a home while a family was inside, Fort Worth police said.

Both were in custody on Tuesday.

A woman was inside of her home in north Fort Worth on April 1 when a suspected burglar attempted to break into the residence. The woman was home with her children.

The woman called 911 and police arrived minutes later, arresting the man.

Fort Worth police identified that suspect as Jose Martinez, 46, of Fort Worth. He remained in the Tarrant County Jail on Tuesday in lieu of $5,000 bond on a charge of burglary of a habitation.

In another case, Gabriel Mireles, 37, of Fort Worth was taken into custody at a homeless camp near Northeast 28th Street n Fort Worth.

For several weeks, patrol officers had received several reports of someone causing criminal mischief at FAMSA Furniture. A person was repeatedly smashing windows and stealing bed covers. At one point, a suspect was detained, but police did not have enough evidence to charge him.

That same suspect was later arrested and accused of public intoxication in the area of Northeast 28th Street, police said. That suspect was Mireles.

After police interrogated Mireles, he admitted to burglarizing the store and was arrested April 1, police said in a news release.

Mireles is expected to be charged with felony criminal mischief and burglary of a business.

Mireles was in the Tarrant County Jail Tuesday in lieu of $6,000 bond.
