Suspect arrested, accused of involvement in killing of Tarrant County store employee

A suspect accused of being involved in the Friday shooting death of a store clerk during a robbery was captured Tuesday, according to jail records.

Investigators with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office are still searching for the gunman.

Joseph Gabriel Allen, 28, of Fort Worth, was booked into the Tarrant County Jail, and he faces a charge of capital murder.

Allen is accused of taking part in the shooting death of Anwar Qasim Ali, 62, of Euless. Ali died from gunshot wounds to his head and neck, according to officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Ali was found dead Friday morning in the bathroom at Super Country Mart in the 4500 block of East FM 1187 just south of Fort Worth.

Detectives believe a robber entered the store shortly before 6:30 a.m. Friday, brandishing a handgun. Ali had just opened the store a few minutes earlier.

The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled in Ali’s gray Toyota Sienna minivan. He was last seen driving toward Burleson.

Store surveillance photos showed the suspect had been wearing a surgical type mask across his face during the robbery and homicide.

Detectives believe Allen had entered the store just before the robbery. He was driving a white four-door passenger car.

Allen was in jail Wednesday in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Anyone with information should call the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office at 817-884-1213.
