Assailant wearing surgical mask, one glove shot Tarrant County store worker to death
An assailant wearing a surgical mask and one glove shot to death a Tarrant County convenience store employee Friday during a robbery, authorities said.
Anwar Ali’s body was found in a bathroom at the Super Big Country Mart about 7:15 a.m., an hour after the 62-year-old man was shot, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
The store is in the 4500 block of East FM 1187, in an unincorporated area of the county.
Ali, who lived in Euless, was shot in his head and neck, the medical’s examiner’s office said. He had opened the store for the day a few minutes before he was slain.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the killing and had not announced an arrest Saturday. The assailant left the store with cash and Ali’s dark gray Toyota Sienna, the sheriff’s office said. The minivan has a Texas license plate, GPB0449. The assailant drove south on Stevenson Levy Road toward Burleson.
The sheriff’s office released a photograph of the assailant and photos of a man whom the sheriff’s office said entered the store just before the robbery and killing and a man it said was also at the scene about the time of the crime.
Someone with information about the assailant or second person should call the sheriff’s office at 817-884-1213 or Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477.
