Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in far west Fort Worth, authorities say

A pedestrian died Wednesday night when the person was struck by a sport utility vehicle in far west Fort Worth, police said.

The victim was hit about 9:15 p.m. at West Loop 820 South Freeway at Chapin Road, Fort Worth police said.

It did not appear that criminal charges will be filed and the driver called 911 and stopped after the accident, police said.

Detectives were investigating the incident late Wednesday, and police did not release information about its circumstances.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office had not released the victim’s name Wednesday night.
