4 people found shot dead at Dallas hotel, police say; boy and girl among the victims

Four people were found shot to death Tuesday inside a Dallas hotel room, police said.

The bodies of a 41-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman, a 9-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl were discovered at the Staybridge Suites at 16060 Dallas Parkway, a Dallas police spokesman said.

Dallas police on Wednesday morning identified the man as Charles Schoenfeld and the woman as Brittany Howard. Because of the ages of the children, their names would not be released, Dallas police said.

Police did not describe the relationships of the four people.

A hotel manager went to the room because the occupants’ time had expired, police said. As the manager entered the room about 3 p.m., a gunshot was fired inside. The manager left and called police.

Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall said investigators had not determined the circumstances of the shooting, but were investigating the possibility that the violence involved a suicide and three homicides, the Dallas Morning News reported. A weapon was recovered from the room, Hall said.
